The research presents a scientometric analysis of Artificial Intelligence (AI) publications indexed in the Web of Science database over a twenty-year period (2005–2024). The study examines publication trends, citation impact, leading researchers, institutions, countries, and subject areas to understand the global growth and visibility of AI research. It provides valuable insights into the evolving research landscape and highlights the importance of high-quality scholarly publications in enhancing global research visibility and academic impact.

AI research has witnessed substantial growth over the past two decades, indicating increasing global research interest.
The Web of Science database recorded 44,313 AI-related publications between 2005 and 2024.
Research articles constituted the largest share of AI publications, reflecting sustained scholarly contributions.
Harvard University emerged as one of the leading research institutions in AI publications.
The United States ranked as the leading contributor to AI research output.
